Last Friday over a well-deserved glass of white wine, one and my best friends and I inadvertently came across the subject of priorities. I'm not going to lie, she was actually the one who introduced the topic, but it got me thinking about what is important in my life at this exact moment, and how your immediate priorities affect your immediate day-to-day life. We were just chatting, and she came up with something similar to this; 'I feel like I have two priorities at the moment - my degree and my sanity. They are about all I can handle'. I thought about my answer for a second, and then decided that I had double the number of immediate priorities as her - my degree, my sanity, my blog, and my health and fitness - but due to the larger number, I feel like none of them are as 'stable'. Whenever one or two of them are running smoothly, at least one of them is completely falling apart - I can be on my blogging game but have my mind swirling, or more commonly, I could be working really hard on trying to graduate with a decent degree, and I end up mistreating or neglecting my body and/or my blog.

No matter how much I enjoy blogging or how much my readers mean to me, this is the last chance I have to up my academic game so it has to come above all right now, despite how much I dislike it the majority of the time. I hate writing these posts, explaining once again why I'm being a shit blogger, but this is the last one you will hopefully see in a while. My last exam should be around the 22nd May, but until then I'm going to be a busy little bee. However, this isn't to say that I'm going to give up blogging until then, I am simply going to continue on as I am, but if I disappear for a week, miss a posting day, or forget to reply to comments for a week or two, then you'll know why. I'll try to keep things as normal and regular as possible, because after all I do love blogging, but I can't afford to not put my everything into my degree now when it's so close to the finish line.

I hope you'll stick around whilst I try to keep my life together, and this summer shall see my epic return!!

  1. You are so right about devoting all your time to the degree Isobel. I think its the right thing to do although once in a while you could take a break and write about makeup for a change! ;-) would love to see you blogging after your exam and hope you do really well! xx

  2. Hun you are so not a 'shit blogger'. I will honestly never understand how you can't see how bloody good you are at this. And I agree that you are 100% doing the right thing in concentrating on your degree. Your blog will still be here in 3 months, but you only get one shot at those exams.

    Get it gurl.

  3. I completely agree with you, I try to juggle work, blog, uni, fitness etc and then it's like oh yes I am superwoman, but in reality something is ALWAYS failing haha and usually its my degree...but sh don't publicise that ;) You should always put social, sanity and degree before blog and we will always be here, you definitely aren't a shit blogger for not being routinely on here cos I think you blog a lot anyway xxx

  4. I feel like as much as I like to think its my first priority, my degree does tend to suffer when there is a lot going on. I have put so much into being accepted into my university and passing so far, I need to stop taking it for granted and really work hard to not just pass, but get grades I'm proud of.

  5. Your education is important and should come before your blog, don't worry. I am in the same boat and when studying for finals I feel guilty for not posting, but sometimes we have bigger fish to fry.

  6. You don't have to justify yourself, honestly. Your degree is far more important than your blog. The blog will still be here when you finish your studies, and loyal readers will still be around. You can work on it again and get back on track, it's not a big problem, I'm sure. :)

Hope you finish everything with a good qualification! I know you can and you will. Big hug! <3

  9. I'm exactly the same. I consider my education to be the most important, but I still tend to put everything else in front of it! Good luck with your degree :) x
